In addition to our 24 years of experience, our well rounded program and competitive prices, please consider the following:

Our Mission

Blue Sky was born out of a desire to create a sustainable future for our world. Our primary focus is on facilitating physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.

Blue Sky’s holistic approach to massage integrates wellness and nutritional training throughout the program. We emphasize health-care and self-care techniques, styles, and philosophies to help each person and their family to develop optimal health within their own boundaries.

Through a comprehensive course of study, Blue Sky strives to:

  1. Graduate massage therapists who really care about people, talented therapists with the perspective to practice the healing art of massage with optimal results for their clients, while receiving a true sense of fulfillment.
  2. Provide a comprehensive education and experience in traditional therapeutic bodywork techniques coupled with training in a wide range of additional treatment modalities.
  3. Reach out and touch the community through educational opportunities and massage services.

The Curriculum

Blue Sky does not strive for average or mediocre, we want to have excellent massage therapy students graduating from Blue Sky and we do whatever is possible to meet these high expectations.

Holistic Emphasis

Incorporated into the curriculum is information on natural solutions to health and wellness. We want to share with our students’ information on body awareness and self-care strategies. Blue Sky aims to reach each individual, not only through teaching theory and technique, but also in improving and supporting each student’s personal state of being.

The Faculty

Our faculty is dedicated to Blue Sky and the success of each student. Many of our instructors are trained in multiple fields, lending additional insight to their instruction. The instructors have practiced in their respective fields and bring personal and direct experience working with clients to their instruction.

Our History & Facilities

Blue Sky has a 25 year history of incorporating holistic health, nutrition, advanced training in therapeutic modalities, along with our in-depth science and hands-on classes, into our curriculum.

Karen and Blair Lewis founded Blue Sky School of Professional Massage & Therapeutic Bodywork in 1985. They established the Blue Sky Educational Foundation (d.b.a. Blue Sky School of Professional Massage & Therapeutic Bodywork) as a not-for profit organization in 1988. What started out as a small school in their home with a class size of six quickly grew to three locations within Wisconsin.

The first classes at Karen and Blair’s home overflowed into a 2,000 square foot facility in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. In 1995, the school moved to Grafton, Wisconsin. We remained at this 9,650 square foot location until 2008.   For a brief while this location was housed at an interim location until our new custom designed facility was ready.  In May, 2009, the new 10,750 square foot facility was opened.  This site consists of two classrooms, kitchen / lounge, a separate clinic area with reception, five private treatment rooms, student library and a separate nutrition, health and book / retail store.

In the Spring of 2000, Blue Sky opened its first auxiliary location in Green Bay, Wisconsin consisting of 6,000 square feet. However, this facility quickly outgrew itself and in October 2004, Blue Sky opened its doors on a newly constructed 8,000 square foot facility in DePere. This facility houses two classrooms, student library, book / retail store, kitchen/lounge and a student clinic with four private treatment rooms and a spa room. In the Fall of 2001, Blue Sky established their second auxiliary location with 6,700 square feet in Madison, Wisconsin. Then in September 2006 this location moved to a cozy and comfortable 2,377 square foot location.  For a short period, this location was moved to an interim site until the new facility was completed.  In September 2008, this location was relocated to its permanent facility, a 3,571 square foot school with a classroom, student library/lounge, kitchen, student clinic with four private treatment rooms and a book / retail store.

In order to accommodate the growing needs of all three locations, Blue Sky moved its administrative offices to Fredonia, Wisconsin in the Spring of 2003.

All three locations are handicap accessible.  All classrooms have use of massage tables and chairs, muscle, skeletal and anatomical charts and models, life size skeletons, overhead projectors and video/audio equipment.
